Ophthalmic Cryosurgery
Cryosurgery is the use of extreme cold to treat a variety of conditions
in many areas.
In Ophthalmics, cryosurgery is used to treat such conditions as Retinal
Detachment, Trichiosis (ingrown eyelashes), Glaucoma and Cataract Extraction
among others.
In the UK, Genesis Medical distributes the superbly reliable Wallach
systems, the WA1000A and WA1000M:
Ophthalmic Cryosurgery - Products
Wallach
Cryo-Technology delivers maximum performance on a continuous basis. The
WA1000A not only provides the fastest freeze and defrost; it does it time
after time, as many times as the surgeon demands. This is only possible
through the use of Wallach's exclusive, non-electric gas handling system.
From the start of a procedure to the end, superior performance is constant.
Recognising
that surgical control should mean more than just probe placement, Wallach
has added the precision of tip-temperature monitoring to the most popular
probes - including cataract tips.
The Ophthalmic Probe Console
Designed
with all of Wallach's Cryo-Technology, the console accepts the entire
arsenal of Wallach Ophthalmic Cryoprobes. In addition, it offers the ideal
combination of easy to use controls and built-in safety features. Wallach's
advanced design operates with no residual cryo-gas in the tip except when
the surgeon triggers freeze or defrost with the specially designed foot-switch.
A console-mounted switch must be activated to permit gas to flow into
the console and a separate gas pressure adjustment knob allows fine tuning
of the temperature and power of the probe.
The Digital Temperature Indicator
Whether
mounted on the console or used separately, the Temperature Indicator of
the Wallach System gives surgeons the unparalleled accuracy and security
of digital readings. At a glance, the surgeon can easily view the high-visibility,
digital read-out of probe tip temperature. An audible freeze timer is
also included.
The Mobile Cart
Compact,
lightweight and rugged, the cart features large diameter wheels for easy
movement over deep thresholds and thick carpet. Just 15" wide, 14"
deep and 40" tall (with console), the cart can conceal a single 20-lb.
cylinder or twin "E" cylinders.
