LED - the light source of the future

LED light is produced by semiconductors instead of the heating of a filament, as in standard bulbs. Until recently, LED's were mainly used for status displays in different colours, but today
white-light-LED's are increasingly used in medicine because they produce a better whiter and brighter light than halogen bulbs.

Leisegang offers focused LED illumination with highest light intensity. Through the use of a completely different optical spectrum, the LED light provides greater contrast with an almost 3D impression of the image. This reduces the need for a green filter.

With LED illumination there are no costly lamps to replace and the Leisegang warranty in the focused LED illumination is 20 years.

The table below compares technical aspects of the illumination provided by competitiive colposcopes with Leisegang halogen (soon to be discontinued) and Leisegang focussed LED.
Leisegang has always had a greater light output, even with lamps of lower wattage because they have never used beam splitters.
